Schwarzwald experience

This year, I went to Schwarzwald with grade six. I think the time there was a good enough  experience, because it could have been better. Day 1 Departure was fine, the drive was also fine we came to  a Birds of prey and owls exhibition and went rope climbing. Later we hiked all the way up to the hostel later than needed and we had theater in the woods, then we went to bed. Day 2 Woke up at five thirty in the morning and went to shower at seven. This was very boorrrriiinnnggg.  we had great activities in the forest that day ( archery, , it was really fun. Day 3 we continued with our activities in the forest, and then we went to a castle to have dinner.  Day 4 Whole day at Europapark!! It was really fun my favorite rides were the Can Can Coaster, Wodan Timburcoater, and blue fire. this was my first time that I actually went on a roller coaster. So that I didn't feel sick, I focused on the rail track and ...

First Day of grade six

Today was the first day of sixth grade. I was and still am excited for sixth grade. I actually was really scared, but now I am ready for every second of sixth grade. So it was definitely better than I thought.  So far I think that sixth grade will be the best school year of my life. The reason I think this is becausse

Exhibition

This post is all about the exhibition that we created for six weeks and presented last week. We had to choose a certain theme that is a problem or solution in the world. Like I said earlier,  we had six weeks to complete this exhibition. My exhibition was all about ancient  grains that have been long forgotten in the world through the development of wheat. We also made the learning process slide show. It was all about the weeks of work, reflecting, and letting out the worries.

My Swiss Essay

For the past time, I was working on a essay about Switzerland. I tried as hard as I could finding information about the Swiss government. I had to answer questions  such as, " how does it work" and "What are the Swiss parties" and "what is your opinion." Here is a link  to go to the essay.  Make sure to spread the word about this post

Screen limit letter

Please click on this link to read my letter. When writing, the part that I found most challenging was the limit of time we had because I have slow typing skills. I hope to improve that in middle school. I am especially proud about how much I wrote and how much research I put into this essay. I feel hopeful that what I wrote was enough. My lett er was to all the inhabitants that live in England, Australia, and America. The letter was about the addiction of technology and how to prevent it. Hopefully, SOME people who are reading will help me spread the word about screen limits.

Passion Projects Reflection

Three weeks ago we started to make a passion project. For my Passion Project I decided to explain the world of pottery.  My guiding questions were:  1. How pottery and ceramics changed through time  2. How pottery plays roles in our daily lives  3. What are some skills and issues when making pottery. Some feed back that i received was, " very interesting" ( tons of those in fact) and "love how we got to interact". Others wrote that  " It was good" or  "I liked it "  Some interesting things i learned were that audiences needed interactions while I present. ( Chill.... the got an interaction and they loved it). During the preparation, I think that my strengths as a learner suddenly decreased for five minutes because I was not  prepared.  As well as not knowing what to say because I was a bit overwhelmed. All in all it went great! Bye!

HWEO Colour- Symbol- Image - Maths Reflection

Image
For my math reflection, I did a slug problem. Since a slug can only go half its path, I had to continue halving and halving. This problem was very challenging and I almost made it. I had to use a calculator once This is the colour that represents success, peace, and a flower petal that must have been part of the plant the slug ate.🌹 This is my symbol that represents the face of the human that insulted the slug *Sorry I can't upload the photo *  This is the image that represents how I felt when I was working on the maths project.

My art reflection

I love making pottery especially at art where there are so many possibilities. We were allowed to make a choice between a pinch pot or a coil pot or both. I absolutely loved our art session with Ms Richardson.

Imagine recording 5R

Last Friday, we had an opportunity to go to high school campus and record our own version of imagine. I think it turned out wonderfully, and with a bit of editing, as well as some instrument solos, we made a perfect song. I am the one girl who is closest to the girl singing with the microphone. Well... pretty much the girl that is giving the "sting eye" to another girl who is in a summer top.

summative assessment

This is my part of a summative assessment for        the 'Who We Are In Place And Time' unit or  WWAIPAT for short.  We had to create a civilization and make artifact and explain what the artifact is. I was partners with Sara and we worked very well. Our civilization was called Catafrania and it existed in Iceland. The Catafranians believed that there were cat gods and godesses and cats were holy.

The Big Dig

Here is the Big Dig we did a month ago. It wasn't really big, but it was fun. We had  to dig in a sandpit and find " artifacts". I found half of a mayan mask, and a toy dinosaur, which was supposed to be the remains of a dinosaur. We had to record what we found on a paper. Here is a video:

Writing Up An Experiment

Image
As part of our How the World Works unit, we have been learning about the scientific process. Here is a scientific report that I wrote. Something I still need to work on when writing up experiments is being faster at recording the results and hypothesizing. I want to improve this because then I will have more time to relax and read more about other things. Please click on this link to read my experiment write up. Helping Tanish measure the correct amount of baking soda. This is the whole team measuring the height of the balloon. We are about to put in the baking soda into the vinegar in the bottle.

Fabric Inquiry

Image
To learn more about materials and how they are produced and  changed, we did an inquiry into fabric. We used the proscopes to look closely at different fabrics and then researched to find out more about them. This is me and Sara partnered up for the fabric inquiry. This is me recording information about the different types of fabric.

I hear my classmates talk all lunch period and that is very loud. I pretend that I am a shape-shifter and can turn into anyone I want. I am Anastasia. I feel the soft and silky fur of my black and white cat Mandy. I touch the black cover of the case  of my ipad before I turn my ipad on after school. This is me with my new friends Sara, Georgina, and Nell. These are my classmates and my wonderful teacher Ms. Rhead.
